Armless Drummer Wins!

No-arms drummer kid triumphs

A TEENAGER born with no lower arms has come second in a national drumming contest. Cornel Hrisca-Munn, 15, uses sticks strapped to his upper limbs. A false leg — in place of an amputated deformed limb — works the bass pedal.

He was adopted by Brits Ken and Doreen Munn from a Romanian orphange in 1994 — and beat 441 percussionists in the Young Drummer of the Year at Leamington Spa, Warwicks.

Cornel, of Whittington, Worcs, said: “Missing a few limbs doesn’t stop me from doing the thing I love most.” Doreen, 64, said: “I’m so proud!"

Man I wanna see that guy play. I guess it doesn't really bother him when that's how he learned to do everything though. It's not any different to him, only to us. Still impressive though.

Now that's impressive! Usually, drummers ( and other musicians) are legless.

Yeah, at first I was kinda doubting, but then I saw a video of a one handed bassist. He had a hook for his right hand. What's cooler than that?!
I wonder if drummer boy has a hook for a hand?

that is so cool... yeah.. what did def leppard guy lose in that accident? a Leg? I cannot remember now, but isn;t he the reason that we have a double pedal bass now?
see.. you can do whatever you make up your mind to do... sort of deflates any excuse you make for yourself (a drummer with 2 arms & 2 legs) for not being a better drummer now though, does it not? LOL
So.. cool. I just wanna hear him play, I have no doubt he can play!

I think DL's drummer just lost an arm and he had like 9 pedals on one video I saw (no telling whether he used them at shows or not but he probably did). Makes my head hurt thinking about trying to utilize that many pedals.

I'm not sure if he's the reason the double pedal was invented or not though. Seems like it would have happened before then but maybe not.

Metallica lost Cliff Burton, their orig bass player in a bus accident. Don't know about the drummer you're thinking of. Sucks either way.

Google gave me way too many results for drummer accident double bass pedal. Couldn't find it.

Double bass was done by jazz drummers back in the 40's and the 50's.

I'm not really sure how a dude with one leg would make use of two pedals either...

There's always heel-toe, or the Duallist pedal.

I hate to resurect something dead ,but I have to reiterate my original statement. How would a dude with one leg and one foot make use of two pedals?
